The Anambra State Police Command has intensified efforts to enhance the operational preparedness and professionalism of its personnel through a specialised arms drill and operational readiness exercise supervised by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Miller Gajere Dantawaye.
The exercise, which took place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, was conducted under the supervision of AIG Dantawaye, who heads the Police Supervisory Zone comprising Anambra and Enugu states.
The exercise was aimed at strengthening officers’ weapon-handling skills, operational discipline, coordination and compliance with established tactical and safety procedures.
During the exercise, participating personnel underwent practical drills covering safe weapon handling, arms drill, discipline, coordination and adherence to prescribed operational procedures.
Particular attention was given to precision, controlled responses, professional conduct and strict compliance with safety standards in the deployment and handling of police equipment.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended AIG Dantawaye for the initiative, describing continuous professional training and development as essential to effective and responsible policing.
Oji Ama charged officers and men of the command to apply the competencies acquired during the exercise to their field operations, while ensuring strict compliance with the law, Nigeria Police Force policies and established Standard Operating Procedures.
He further reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining a disciplined, professionally competent and operationally prepared workforce capable of responding effectively to emerging security challenges and protecting lives and property across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Awka on Tuesday.
